What is Chianina PGI?

The Chianina is a particular breed of cattle, indigenous to Tuscany and Umbria. It is distinguished by its white coat and high-quality meat that even the ancients liked. True Chianina still comes from small herds and is produced in limited quantities. Unfortunately, many people also pass off meat that is not Chianina at all as Chianina. That is why at Lungarno23 we always display the I.G.P. mark, as a guarantee of a traceable product of controlled and certified origin.

Why it is called Chianina: the close connection with the land.

The name "Chianina" comes from the Val di Chiana area where the breed is raised. The deep connection with the land of origin has made this meat a local excellence dear to all Florentines.

Those visiting Florence cannot fail to taste it to savor an essential part of the city's gastronomic culture.

Chianina meat, the quality kind, has always been a must at Lungarno23.

Lungarno23 was created precisely with the intention of enhancing this precious Tuscan heritage. To ensure a safe and high-quality product, all of our burgers and selected Chianina-based dishes are registered with the Consorzio di Tutela del Vitellone Bianco dell'Appennino Centrale seal.
